The Role of Automotive Pump Wheels

Oct 12, 2023

The automobile pump wheel is an important component in the automobile engine, playing a role in circulating coolant, lubricating oil, and transmission power. Its performance and quality are directly related to the performance and lifespan of the automobile. Automobile pump wheels are usually made of cast iron or cast steel, and their surfaces are processed to ensure smoothness and sealing. The following are the main functions of automotive pump wheels.

1. Circulating water cooling system: The pump wheel can pump coolant from the engine water tank, dissipate heat through the radiator, and then pump it back, forming a circulating flow to maintain the normal temperature of the engine and keep the engine's heat dissipation system in optimal condition.

2. Provide lubrication: In addition to circulating coolant, the pump wheel can also provide oil lubrication. When the engine is fully running, it can extract lubricating oil from the oil pan, filter it through a filter element, and distribute it to various lubrication points to reduce friction and wear of metal components inside the engine.

3. Transmission power: The pump wheel is driven by engine torque and can transmit torque by converting the speed between the crankshaft and flywheel into the speed of the water pump, air pressure, and vacuum pump.

4. Solution to engine ventilation issues: In internal combustion engines, compressed gas needs to be discharged. Therefore, an exhaust pipe needs to be installed in the engine. However, even after careful design and manufacturing, there will still be a small amount of exhaust gas remaining in the engine block. The rotation of the pump wheel can discharge the exhaust gas through a water circulation pump, ensuring smooth engine ventilation.

Automotive pump wheels play a very important role in automotive engines. Its excellent quality and performance can ensure the normal operation and longer lifespan of the engine. Therefore, automobile manufacturers need to strictly control the design and manufacturing of pump wheels to ensure their balance and reliability, in order to provide a better driving experience and reliability.
